The Inhabitants of Krynn

There are many races upon Krynn and certainly different types of those races there in. However, for pragmatic (and mental) purposes, Krynn's inhabitants can (almost) all be placed in one or more of the nine ethic groups: Human, Elven, Dwarven,Ogre, Irda, Gnome, Kender, Draconian, or Minotaur.

Humans:

The Humans are the most populous race upon the world of Krynn. Coming in all sizes and colors and basically living everywhere that nature has not eliminated them, much to the Elves dismay. Humans tend to run between 5 and 6 feet tall, males tend to be in the upper 100lbs to as much as 300lbs, while females sit usually around the lower hundreds. Humans acheive a +1 Attack Value because of their strength over most of the rest of the races upon Krynn.

Elves:

The Elves live in two secular places upon Krynn, anyone except the most venturing Elf leaves their homes of Qualinesti and Silvanesti. The standard issue elf stands 6-7 feet tall and weighs in the lighter 100's. Although some extend from this generalization, most do not. Elves also are gifted with natural infravision, in which they can see and detect body heat in complete darkness or light, giving them a -1 Ranged Hit Value bonus.

Dwarves:

The Dwarves are an impolite group who would just as soon see the world disappear and leave them alone in their mountain home of Thorbardin or the hills there of in which their cousins, the Hill Dwarves inhabit. The mountain has been sealed up twice now, only opening in times of extremity to permit visitors or others to pass through in dire emergency. The dwarves rarely leave their homes, as exile is deemed worse a punishment then death to the dwarven community. A dwarf generally weighs in the heavier 100-200lbs, and stands no taller then 4 1/2 ft. The dwarven weapon of preference is a hammer, because of their excelling ability in blacksmithing, but also an axe for its honed edge. Dwarves recieve a +1 dmg modifier because they have strong arms and when using an axe or a hammer, recieve a +2 dmg modifier.

Ogres:

The Ogres are a rough, uncivilized brood. They are extremely tall and very ugly, weighing large amounts and generally travel in groups, although singles are not completely unheard of. An Ogre has pale almost white skin and a general hate for everything not Ogre. The Ogres live in the northlands around Storm's Keep and are the current rulers over Mithas. Ogres also recieve a +2 dmg modifier along with their +2 mag dmg, because of their immense strength, size, and relation to the Irda.

Gnomes:

The gnomes are a sordid lot. Having great technical and engineering skills, it is surprising they have never strayed into the realms of magic. The gnomes all live around their home, Mt. Nevermind, but generally stray from that place only to fullfil their "Lifequest", much to the hardship of everyone else on Krynn. Gnomes tend to build things and harvest ideas (aloting them a +1 mag dmg modifier), but they also tend to be a bit short and weak.. (giving them a +1 def dmg modifier).

Kender:

Kender are perhaps the most hated race on all of Krynn, not that they would mind. With most of them living deep within the forest of Goodlund, they all stray from their home for long periods of time after Wanderlust takes them over. Kender are generally less then 4 1/2 feet tall and weigh less then one hundred pounds. Kender are adept at becoming pick pockets, thieves, and cat burglers, and are thus less likely to be hit. (ie: making their modifier +1 Enemy Hit Value).

Draconians:

The lizardmen to the Dark Queen, Takhsis. Created in the Queen's Nest, these were originally good dragon eggs, but evil magic practiced upon them has twisted their beings into half dragon, half man servants of the darkness. (Thus they can only be Evil in alignment) Draconians stand around 6' tall and vary in physique, some even have wings as others can practice magic. Their scaly skin allows many points and edges of weapons to be deflected, as well as buffeting them from a direct blunt blow, allowing them a -1 dmg modifier.

Minotaurs:

These mythic bullmen are reknown for their combat honor and prowess. The average minotaur stands taller then any of the eight races, usually around 8 feet and has the head of a bull and the body of a large, muscular man. To the average minotaur, a short sword resembles that of a tooth pick and can be used as a deadly weapon nonetheless, alloting them a +1 Attack Value modifier.

Irda:

The isolated and exiled race, turned by Paladine from evil, this band of extremely rare beings are basically Ogres turned and consumed by light magic. These believed to be extinct species still walk amongst the other races of Krynn, incognito to the world, and still containing overwhelming amounts of magical energy. Any Irda to walk #Krynn recieve a +2 Mag Attack Dmg and a +2 dmg.
